MG42 (Maschinengewehr 42, meaning Machine Gun 42) is a general purpose machine gun in Counter-Strike Online.
Overview[]
This is a general purpose machine gun originated from Nazi Germany to hold 95 rounds of 7.92 Mauser. It was firstly invented in 1942 and later involved during World War II and Portuguese Colonial War. The usage of drum magazine makes this machine gun have high mobility, along with its rate of fire of over 1200 rpm, resulting in it becoming a dominating weapon of World War II and being nicknamed as "Hitler's buzzsaw" or more coarsely, "Hitler's zipper".

Trivia[]
- The real life MG42 is chambered with 7.92×57mm Mauser rounds and can hold up to 50 or 250 rounds belt.
- However, the real life version of the drum magazine would only hold 50 rounds instead of 95 depicted in-game.
- This is the predecessor of the well-known MG3.
- Unlike MG3's view model, this one shows the user holding the barrel shroud, even though there is a bipod for use. Repeated firing would cause the barrel shroud to be dangerously hot to hold in real life.
